Colour a sleek black panther
Panthers are wonderful to colour. Reach for black and very dark grey for the coat, then use a few lighter grey strokes to show the muscles and that glossy, sleek look. The secret is the eyes: a bright yellow or vivid green really makes a panther's face pop against the dark fur. The bold panther shapes also make brilliant silhouettes — cut one from black paper for a dramatic prowling-cat decoration.
What exactly is a panther?
Here's a brilliant fact: a "panther" isn't actually its own kind of animal! A black panther is usually a leopard or a jaguar with an extra-dark coat — caused by lots of dark colouring called melanism. The amazing part? If you look closely in good light, you can often still see its spotty rosettes hidden in the black fur.
