Make a paper plate lion
The mane makes the lion — and it's the best bit to craft! Paint a paper plate orange and yellow, then build a shaggy mane around the edge: snip fringes of paper, glue on real autumn leaves, press overlapping handprints, or dip a fork in paint and stamp the fur. Add the face from the template and you've got a magnificent lion. Try a handprint lion too — trace a hand for the body and let the fingers be the legs.
Out on the safari
A lion is the star of any safari project — just add the rest of the savanna! Print an elephant, a tall giraffe and a stripy zebra, browse the whole wild animals group, or explore the full animals collection.
King of the beasts, and L is for Lion
Lions are full of surprises! Only male lions grow that famous mane, lions live together in family groups called "prides", and it's usually the lionesses who do the hunting. A lion's roar is so loud it can be heard up to 8 kilometres away — but they're also wonderfully lazy, resting for around 20 hours a day! These templates are perfect for the letter "L" too: colour your lion while you practise the "L" sound, or trace the outline for fine-motor practice.
