SuperStencil

The spookiest flyers of the night are here! These printable bat templates are a Halloween must-have, and they work two ways: cut them out for decorations, or use them as a stencil to carve or paint a bat pumpkin. There are friendly smiling bats for little ones and sleek silhouettes for spooky décor. Download the PDF to print at full size, then pick a bat below and print or download it.

Spooky Halloween bats

Bats are one of the easiest ways to turn a room spooky. Print them in different sizes, cut them out of black paper, and tape a whole "swarm" climbing up a wall or fluttering across a window. Thread them onto string for a bat garland, hang them from the ceiling so they dangle, or stick them to cards and party bags. Print big for wall decorations or small for confetti and gift tags.

Carve or paint a bat pumpkin

A bat makes a brilliant pumpkin design! Print your favourite, tape it onto the pumpkin and trace around the edge, then carve along the lines for a classic flying-bat jack-o'-lantern. For a no-mess, kid-friendly version, tape the stencil on and dab black paint around it instead of carving. A safety tip: let the grown-ups carve while the kids do the painting and scooping.

Bats are amazing in real life too: they're the only mammals that can truly fly, they "see" in the dark using sound (called echolocation), and most bats are super helpful — a single little bat can gobble up thousands of mosquitoes in one night!
