Make a paper plate elephant
Paint a paper plate grey to make a chunky elephant, then add two big floppy ears, a long curling trunk and a little tail. Sponge-paint the body for a lovely wrinkly texture, and point the trunk upwards — many people say a trunk held high brings good luck! Glue your elephant to a craft stick for a puppet, or stand a herd of them up together.

African or Asian? And E is for Elephant
Did you know there are two main kinds of elephant? You can tell them apart by their ears: African elephants have huge ears (shaped a little like the map of Africa!), while Asian elephants have smaller, rounder ones. A few amazing facts to share: the elephant is the biggest land animal on Earth, a baby elephant is called a "calf", and that incredible trunk has no bones at all but thousands of muscles — strong enough to push down a tree, yet gentle enough to pick up a single blade of grass.
