Snap, snap — here comes the crocodile! With its long snout, knobbly back and toothy grin, the crocodile is one of the most exciting animals to craft. Colour these printable crocodile templates, cut them out, or download the PDF to print at full size. They're perfect for reptile and jungle themes, zoo projects and snappy classroom fun. Pick a crocodile below and print or download it.

Make a snappy paper plate crocodile

This is the crocodile craft every child wants to make! Fold a paper plate in half, paint it green and add a row of pointy white teeth along the fold so it really snaps open and shut. Pop two bumpy eyes on top and you've got a chomping crocodile. For a smaller version, colour a clothespin crocodile and clip it open and closed — perfect for a puppet that can "talk" and snap.

Reptiles, rivers and the jungle

Crocodiles make a brilliant reptile or swamp project. Add a turtle, a frog and a lizard for a watery scene, and meet the crocodile's look-alike cousin, the alligator. Here's how to tell them apart: a crocodile has a narrow, V-shaped snout and you can still see its teeth when its mouth is shut, while an alligator has a wider, U-shaped snout. Find lots more in the full animals collection.

C is for Crocodile

Crocodiles are perfect for the letter "C": colour one in while you practise the "C" sound, or trace the outline for fine-motor practice. And here are some snappy facts to share: crocodiles have been around since the time of the dinosaurs, they can't chew so they swallow their food whole (and even gulp down stones to help grind it up!), and the saying "crocodile tears" means pretending to cry.
