Hare silhouettes for decorating

The clean leaping-hare and sitting-hare shapes make beautiful silhouettes. Cut one from coloured or shiny paper to stick on a window, trace it onto card, fabric, felt or wood for a reusable stencil, or use one for rustic spring and Easter decor. You can even lay a stencil over a cake and dust icing sugar through it for a pretty hare design!

Hare or rabbit?

People often mix them up! A hare is bigger than a rabbit, with longer ears and longer, more powerful back legs. Hares live above ground in little nests called "forms", and their babies are born with fur and open eyes, ready to hop — while baby rabbits are born tiny and helpless in a cosy burrow. Hares are also some of the fastest animals around, sprinting away at amazing speed.

H is for Hare

Hares pop up in stories and sayings everywhere! Ever heard "as mad as a March hare"? In spring, hares get so lively they leap and "box" with their front paws. And in the famous fable "The Tortoise and the Hare", the speedy hare learns that slow and steady can still win the race.
