Ahoy! Everything you need to set sail on a pirate adventure is right here. Colour and cut out pirate hats and eye patches to dress the part, run up a Jolly Roger flag, then follow a treasure map to the buried gold. These templates turn an ordinary afternoon into a swashbuckling treasure hunt — perfect for a pirate party or imaginative play.

Set the scene

  • Hang Jolly Roger flags and bunting for a pirate party
  • Cut out a pirate ship, anchor and a desert island to build a high-seas display
  • Add a parrot on the captain's shoulder
  • Make a treasure map and mark the spot with a big red X

Dress like a pirate

  • Colour and wear a paper pirate hat — set up a decorating station at a party
  • Cut out an eye patch, telescope and hook for instant pirate costumes
  • Give everyone a pirate name and let the role-play begin

Run a treasure hunt

Hide a "treasure" (a snack or small toy), draw the route on a map and let the crew follow the clues to find it. For an old, weathered look, print the map, dab it with cold tea or coffee and gently tear the edges before you hide the gold. Aye aye, captain!

September 19th is Talk Like a Pirate Day — a perfect excuse to print a few of these and practise your best "arrr".
